Gloyne brings reo focus to broadcast funding board


Māori language advocate Paraone Gloyne has been appointed to the board of the Māori broadcast funding agency, Te Māngai Pāho.
Mr Gloyne's contributions to the revitalisation of te reo Māori, most notably through his creation of the Mahuru Māori challenge to only speak Māori for a month, his leadership of the Raukawa kapa haka Mōtai Tangata Rau, and his work on Taringa, a bilingual podcast put out by Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
He's the pou tikanga and pou reo matua at the wānanga's Te Awamutu campus and facilitates its Reo Ora Māori language strategy.
Māori Development Minister Nanaia Mahuta says he brings a wealth of experience from his background as a Māori language advocate, teacher, composer, mentor, and broadcaster.
She also reappointed Vanessa Clark to the board for a further three year term.
Ms Clark who works in the information and communication technology sector, has extensive experience in governance and working with Māori ICT start-up businesses.
