Māori Tourism wants and needs
New Zealand Māori Tourism wants to find out what Māori tourism businesses want and need.
Working with Te Puni Kōkiri and Poutama Trust it is undertaking a national assessment of the sector, the first such survey since 2014.
The capability assessment, Poipoia te kākāno, kia puāwai, was launched at its Dragons' Den event in Otautahi yesterday.
Regions and capability director John Doorbar says a Māori tourism business is defined as one that is 50 per cent or more Māori owned and which offers a tourism product/experience in the Aotearoa New Zealand tourism industry.
To encourage operators to fill in the survey before the September 30 deadline, there is a $5000 cash prize on offer.
