The chair of Waikato Tainui's Te Arataura executive says a planned visit by Kiingi Tuheitia to Ihumātao is to hear what mana whenua believe is the solution to the current stand off.
More than 200 people are still at the village between Auckland Airport and the Manukau Harbour blocking work on a 480-house development.
Rukumoana Schaafhausen says the protection of the whenua and the people are priorities for the king.
"The role of the Kiingitanga here is critical in terms of bringing kotahitanga and fulfilling its role as the protector of our whenua so the iwi is supportive of our kiingi and together we will suppoort mana whenua to resolve their issues," she says.
Tikanga is the korowai that protects, and if everyone respects that on Saturday the situation can be resolved where everyone keeps their mana intact.
