Te Maruata chair Bonita Bingham on Paakiwaha
Over 600 central government delegates have gathered for the annual hui in Poneke.
The theme for this year’s Local Government NZ conference is Riding the localism wave: Putting communities in charge.
Bonita Bingham who is the chair of Te Maruata Roopu Whakahaere delivered her speech and of how Maori fit into the scheme of things.
The LGNZ sector voted at 98 percent to have a permanent seat with full voting rights for Maori at the sectors National Couincil table.
