Rangatahi target for reo funding
Te Māngai Pāho has announced the first funding round for money set aside in Budget 2019 to support rangatahi-focused digital content.
Chief executive Larry Parr says young people are the future of te reo Māori, and if the country doesn't engage them, the future of the language is bleak.
The Māori broadcast funding agency is calling for proposals for content that will encourage and inspire rangatahi to use te reo.
The round closes 5 July with decisions notified by 9 August.
Mr Parr says Te Māngai Pāho's aim is for the Māori media sector to be able to demonstrate a tangible impact on Māori language and Maori cultural outcomes.
