Whānau ora offers way to achieve wellbeing agenda

Whānau Ora Minister Peeni Henare says an $80 million Budget boost is a significant validation for the integrated service delivery model and will also help the Government’s wider agenda.
Some of the money will go to boosting the number of navigators who work with whānau and help them set and achieve goals.
He says whānau ora providers also work across mental health, on family and sexual violence, and other pressing social issues.
"The money will help resource good kaupapa across the country but more importantly it tells this Government and all of us we can do things in a different way. Right across ministries and right across the work agenda of the government, that whānau ora and a whānau-centric approach to what we are trying to achieve is the only way forward for our people," Mr Henare says.
Budget 2019 also includes a $1 million project that will help whānau ora to reach into primary healthcare.
