Child stealing undermining communities

The organiser of a hui to discuss children being taken into care says Oranga Tamariki is stealing children and causing immeasurable damage.
Raglan woman Louise Hutchinson says she was driven to act after seeing what a close friend was put through after the child welfare agency accused her of abuse.
She says her background in suicide prevention means she saw links between child removal and suicide, and many removals do not seem justified.
She’s also concerned at a lack of accountability within the agency and what seems to be a racial bias.
"How are we expected to see healthy flourishing communities in the future when this is happening right from birth to the most vulnerable communities and significantly to Māori and this has been happening for decades now," Ms Hutchinson says.
The hui will be at the Kōkiri Centre in Raglan this Sunday, mother’s day.
