Tuuta picked to chair tourism body

Former Māori Trustee Jamie Tuuta has been appointed chair of the New Zealand Tourism Board, replacing former Wellington mayor Dame Kerry Prendergast.
Webjet chair Roger Sharp was appointed deputy.
Mr Tuuta also chairs the board of Māori Television and Te Ohu Kaimoana, the Māori fisheries settlement trust, as well as holding roles within Ngāti Mutunga and Taranaki iwi.
Tourism Minister Kelvin Davis says the tourism environment has changed dramatically in recent years and both Jamie Tuuta and Roger Sharp possess the right skills and experience to provide expert leadership to the board.
Challenges and opportunities faced by the board include significant visitor growth, changes in technology and digital media, and the Government’s upcoming tourism strategy.
