Collins counting on Māori seat bid
Senior National Party MP Judith Collins wants to see the party drop its objection to running candidates in Māori seats.
Palmerston North-based list MP Joanne Hayes wants to run in Te Tai Hauauru, but that would mean the party dropping the policy adopted after the 2002 election by former leader Don Brash.
This was in line with the policy continued by John Key that the seats should be scrapped.
Ms Collins says it’s a decision for the party’s board and leader Simon Bridges.
"You know I am a big supporter of Joanne Hayes and I know she works hard and she is a genuine and sincere person so I am looking at this with great interest and obviously my view is every vote counts," she says.
