Singapore-based Māori designer Tessa Bailey-Lont from Waitara has shown her Te Wao nui a Tāne collection at this weeks’ Oxford Fashion Studio show in Paris.

The invitation to appear in the showcase for the London-based retailer came through Bailey-Lont’s role as guest designer at the Miromoda showcase at last year’s New Zealand Fashion Week.

Miromoda founder Ata Te Kanawa says it’s a fantastic validation of the organisation’s efforts to raise the visibility of indigenous designers.

Videos of Bailey-Lont describing her design ethos against Paris backdrops will be used to promote this year’s Miromoda competition, which will have a multinational theme.
