Beach clean to highlight plastic threat

Greens co-leader Marama Davidson is looking forward to a wasted weekend.
She’s inviting people to join her at the beach at Ihumātao at low tide on Saturday afternoon to help clear the Manukau Harbour foreshore of plastic.
She says as well as highlighting that plastic pollution isn’t good for marine life, it’s also a chance to tell people about the Greens’ waste campaign.
"Which in a nutshell is about calling on producers, manufacturers and distributors to be more responsible for the lifecycle of the rubbish they are producing that ends up in our oceans," Ms Davidson says.
The meeting point for the clean up is at the end of Ihumātao Rd at 2.30 pm tomorrow.
