Whaingaroa kainga tackles housing need
The remote Northland settlement of Takou Bay is set for a makeover.
Māori Development Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta says the first $650,000 of what could be an investment of up to $2.3 million has been made into Te Rūnanga o Whaingaroa’s Te Oranga o Ngā Hapori project.
It will be spent on housing initiatives including repairs and affordable home ownership options through investment packages.
The rūnanga has worked with Te Puni Kōkiri and other partners for three years to identify the aspirations of the hapū and whānau.
