Kawerau a Maki to light up Harbour Bridge

From tomorrow evening until next Thursday Te Kawerau a Maki’s story of the islands of the Waitematā will be played out in light on Auckland Harbour Bridge.
The show is a collaboration with Vector Lights to mark Treaty of Waitangi commemorations.
Ataahua Papa, Auckland Council’s arts and culture programmer, says it follows on from a show the Auckland iwi prepared for Matariki last year.
It will feature a volcano, waka and birds choreographed in light and music.
"They put together a storyboard with suggested colours, suggested images and that gets sent to the light programmers who come back with a concept. We've got a soundtrack which includes some taonga puoro, some karanga for a waka and some music so it's all coordinated with the programming," Ms Papa says.
The seven-minute show will run at 30 minute intervals from 9pm until midnight, and the soundtrack can be accessed via www.vector.co.nz/lights to sync with the show.
