Tāmaki taste of Grove Roots groove

Wellington band Grove Roots is making a trip to the big smoke for a special Music In Parks concert at Onehunga’s Jellicoe Park on Monday.
The Local Sounds gig was created to celebrate the International Year of Indigenous Language, and also featured Māori fusion artist Riqi Harawira.
Sianne Dougherty, who will perform a solo set as well as taking the mike for Grove Roots, says the love of reo and music bring them together.
"We just all enjoy singing Māori music and it is more like a waka that artists can jump on and have a sing and jump off when they want to," she says.
The free concert at Jellicoe Park runs from 1 to 4 on Monday afternoon.
