Places open for Hawai’i arts fest

Creative New Zealand intends to send a delegation of 100 Māori and contemporary Pasifika artists to represent Aotearoa at the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in Hawai’i in 2020.
Held every four years, the festival brings together more than 2000 artists and other cultural practitioners from 27 Pacific nations.
Māori strategy and partnerships manager Paula Cuff says CNZ wants applications for both accomplished and emerging artists and collectives.
There’s funding for travel and accommodation, and also some putea for artists to create or redevelop the work they will show or perform.
A key feature of the festival will also be a youth ambassador leadership programme.
The festival theme is E kū I ka hoe uli – take hold of the steering paddle.
Aotearoa New Zealand has sent a delegation to every festival since 1972 and has included weavers, sculptors, carvers, theatre groups, storytellers, poets and dancers
