Scientific approach to Landcorp leadership
The new chair of Landcorp is bringing science and conservation to the table as he takes the held at the country’s largest farming enterprise.
Warren Parker takes over from Traci Houpapa, whose term expired earlier this year.
His previous roles have included being professor of agribusiness and resource management at Massey University, chief executive of forest research institute Scion and Landcare Research, chief operating officer at AgResearch, and chairing the New Zealand Conservation Authority.
He also chairs the Forestry Ministerial Advisory Group.
Associate Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Shane Jones says the company plays a significant role in New Zealand agriculture and the regions, and Dr Parker’s experience across a wide range of primary industries will give him the ability to look across all the work of Landcorp and ensure the shareholder is receiving value for money.
Landcorp runs 1.5 million stock units – sheep, deer, beef and dairy cattle – on 126 properties totalling 372,115 hectares under management.
