Buttabean vs the Beast in boxing ring

Boxer Dave Buttabean Letele is lining up to give Manu Vatuvei a lesson in ring craft when the pair face off on the undercard at next month’s Joseph Parker fight against American Alexander Florez in Christchurch.
Letele says it will be the former Warrior’s first professional bout after an amateur clash six years ago, and but there will be none of the usual pre-bout trash talk.
Instead he’s using what will be his last professional fight to draw attention to his Buttabean Motivation Movement of community exercise programmes.
He’s also taking into account increased concern about the sport’s safety, sparked by the death of Christchurch man Kain Parsons after a charity boxing match earlier this month.
"I think there needs to be a minimum time people train before they even go into a boxing camp but as far as me and Manu are concerned, I have full faith he is training hard. I know he is training with Lolo and also with Monty Betham and I know he will be ready. This guy is an athlete coming to take boxing up and I think he wants to take boxing on as a career after league," Letele says.
The Vatuvei-Letele fight is on December 15 at Horncastle Arena, Christchurch.
