Surveys improving medical services
Māori are being encouraged to take up an invitation to fill in patient experience surveys.
Rawiri Jansen, a member of the Health Quality Safety Commission, says about 18 percent of Māori who are invited fill in the quarterly survey.
A wide range of information is collected, which practices use to improve their services.
"Were you respected in your interactions with clinic staff, and that's right from the front door? Have we got the right information? Are we paying attention to what your specialists are doing? So it's a really big survey. It's happening nationally, thousands of Māori are invited this week and thousands will complete the survey and it gives us such rich information about Māori experiences of care," Dr Jansen says.
