FOMA focus on sustainability
Sustainability is the topic of the day for the Māori enterprise owners and asset managers gathered in Gisborne for the annual Federation of Māori Authorities conference.
FOMA chair Traci Houpapa says FOMA 31 will also look at issues like innovation and technology and how Māori can build a stronger and more sustainable business strategy.
There’s also a policy session today on climate change, taxation and water.
She says sustainability is built into the Māori business model.
"Remember the difference for us as Māori is we have that long term intergenerational view which means every business and commercial decision we make now is about a future that might be 20, 100, 200 or more years (hence)," Ms Houpapa says.
