Māori firms rated good employers
A Māori-owned Northland company that does extensive work getting young Māori into the forest industry has made the finals of the Primary Industries Good Employer Awards.
Forest Protection Services’s principals Kevin and Kylie Ihaka are up for the award in the employee development and the safe and healthy work environment sections.
Minister of Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor says good staff are the foundation of all good businesses and the finalists are doing their bit to keep their employees safe, motivated and with plenty of room to grow.
In the Māori agribusiness category, the finalists are Taupo-based milk processor Miraka, Zac Te Āhuru from Ruapehu Agricultural Developments and Aaron Kūrei from Te Kaha Gold Spraying.
The winners will be announced at Parliament on November 27.
