Māori innovation challenge wins accolade

An Auckland economic development project aimed at encouraging more Māori into the technology sector has won national and international praise.
DIGMYIDEA, the annual Māori innovation challenge run by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development or ATEED, won the best practice award for innovation given by Economic Development New Zealand.
The premier award went to another ATEED initiative, the Tripartite Business Programme, which helps New Zealand exporters by using Auckland’s sister city relationships with Los Angeles and Guangzhou.
Both initiatives also won bronze awards for excellence in economic development at last month's International Economic Development Council awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
