Absolute commitment needed for climate response

The Prime Minister says the latest report of the International Panel on Climate Change is a stark reminder of the threat facing the planet.
Te Arawa met today with Climate Change Minister to discuss its response to global warming, and Māori landowners are also looking at the opportunities that will come from a revived emissions trading scheme.
Jacinda Ardern says the panel of global scientists have spelled out the difference between taking the action needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees celsius and it reaching 2 percent or higher.
"We're talking sea level rises in excess of 10 centimetres, salt water moving into our water supply, loss of food crops food security, and climate migration issues, so really the call for us to absolutely commit to 1.5 degrees. New Zealand already has. We've also committed to being carbon neutral by 2050," she says.
