Supporters of Gisborne councillor Meredith Akuhata-Brown rallied outside the council offices this morning to protest the way a complaint against her had been handled.
Ms Akuhata-Brown was found to have breached the council’s code of conduct by accusing another councilor of making a racist remark.
That councilor has denied saying it was a pity more Māori weren't killed when James Cook arrived in 1769.
Ms Akuhata-Brown is considering asking the Ombudman to investigate.
