Apology good but taihoa on law change better

Sir Toby Curtis has accepted an apology from Education Minister Chris Hipkins over the lodging of a Waitangi Tribunal claim against the ending of the charter school experiment.
The Minister wrote to claimants this week after receiving fresh Crown Law advice the crown had in fact been served the Statement of Claim on July 3, and he would correct his statements to parliament saying no claim had been received.
Sir Toby Curtis says it's an important issue affecting Māori for generations to come, and he hopes the Tribunal will move swiftly to consider the claim.
He urged Mr Hipkins to wait until the claim is heard rather than rush amendments through parliament that will affect kura hourua partnership schools.
