New home for Rotorua kura
Rotorua’s Te Wharekura o Ngati Rongomai is to receive $10 million to build a new property.
Education Minister Chris Hipkins says having a purpose-built facility means the wharekura can continue to build its identity as it grows its roll.
The wharekura also become a school, in its own right.
It has been a satellite of Putaruru-based Te Kura o Te Kaokaoroa o Patetere.
Mr Hipkins says it is well-positioned to stand alone as an immersion kura that provides education which is strongly endorsed by iwi and hapu.
