Experience counts as Warriors make final eight

Warriors fans are celebrating their team making the NRL play-offs for the first time in seven years.

Former Warriors and New Zealand player Wairangi Koopu says there will be some younger fans who have never seen their team play finals football.

He says the 36-16 win over the Penrith Panthers caps a fantastic performance in a tight competition, with only four points separating the top eight.

Friday's game was marked by the return of Tohu Harris from injury.

Koopu says the experience the forward gained playing for teams like the Melbourne Storm is now benefiting the Auckland-based franchise.

"The make up of those teams he has been with have been fantastic so he has learned a lot of leadership skills, he has done the hard work in Australia and come back to not only uplift our team but to teach come of those younger ones," he says.

Wairangi Koopu says this week's game against Canberra will be rough but the Warriors will want to win it to maintain their momentum into the semi-finals.
