Kura to get new homes

Kura to get new homes
Two kura which have been operating from temporary sites have got the green light to put down roots.
Manukura, a designated character school in Palmerston North, will receive $20 million for a permanent new school, and Te Wharekura o Ngā Purapura o Te Aroha, which has been jammed in to a space on Te Wānanga o Aotearoa’s Te Awamutu campus, will get $10 million to move to a new site.
Associate Education Minister Kelvin Davis says the students who go to these schools are keen to learn and they deserve the best, modern fit-for-purpose learning environments.
He says student numbers have risen steadily at Māori medium schools, and the government needs to support them that growth.
Construction of the new schools is expected to begin in about 18 months.
