Māori high in trade strategy
Māori high in trade strategy
Trade Minister David Parker wants to see more Māori businesses exporting.
Launching the Government's Trade for All agenda, Mr Parker said the benefits of trade need to be felt throughout the country, not just in the major cities.
The Government wants all and medium sized businesses, women and Māori – who haven’t always benefited as much as big businesses from trade deals – to succeed on the global stage.
At the same time it wants to protect New Zealand's unique environment and get the best out of existing and future trade deals.
It has launched a website for public comment on how trade policy can help businesses succeed on the world stage, how it can grow the regions in general and the Māori economy in particular while promoting the rights of indigenous people and increasing women’s participation in the trade sector.
There will also be a round of public meetings and hui, and a Trade for All Advisory Board chaired by trade expert David Pine.
