Davidson seeks stop to poultry pollution
Greens co-leader Marama Davidson is meeting with whānau at Kāpehu Marae today about how they could be affected if Tegel goes ahead with plans to build a the country's largest chicken far next door.
The company is seeking resource consent for the farm south of Dargaville.
Ms Davidson says the chickens will be housed in 32 sheds.
"They're hoping to manufacture 9 million chickens a year and the amount of pollution, smell, toxic waste, pollution into the awa, water use and so on is really concerning," she says.
Ms Davidson says she intends to discuss what can be done with her parliamentary colleagues.
