Retirement for Turanga FM manager Fred Maynard
A 25 year run at Gisborne's Turanga FM has earned the retirement of station manager Fred Maynard.
It's a post he has held since the station first went to air in 1993.
Turanga FM chair Ronald Nepe says Mr Maynard earned respect as a pioneer and caretaker of Maori radio in the district, and through his contribution to national Maori radio body Te Whakaruruhau he ensured the interests of Turanga people were represented at a national and political level.
The interim manager is well known Maori broadcaster Matai Smith.
