Poll positive despite 5 percent slip
List MP Willie Jackson says commentators predicting Labour's demise based on the latest polls need to learn how MMP works.
This week's Colmar Brunton poll put Labour on 43 percent, down 5 points on the last poll, one below National on 44 percent.
Jacinda Ardern was 4 points down to 37 percent as preferred prime minister, while Simon Bridges polled 10 percent in his first poll since taking the National Party leadership.
The Maori Party drew 1 percent support despite having no MPs in parliament.
Mr Jackson says it's about the bloc.
"Forty eight percent we were last time, it was probably too high anyway, but 43 percent, 5 percent for New Zealand First, 6 percent for the Greens, that comes to 54 percent, 10 percent ahead of National. That's an excellent result," he says.
Mr Jackson says National may be the most popular party but has no friends to form a government with.
