48 Hours comp seeks next Taika
Organisers of the annual HP48HOURS Filmmaking Competition want to encourage more Maori filmmakers to take part.
To diversify the competition’s base and encourage newcomers to test their skills and creativity they are also engaging with more secondary schools and universities, offering an outstanding female filmmaker award, and offering 10 free entries to community groups and charity organisations.
Registrations close on May 9 and the national weekend competition is set for May 11-13.
Filmmaking teams have to write, shoot, edit and score a short film from one to five minutes duration.
Past winners include Taika Waititi, TheDownLowConcept who went on to make Gary of the Pacific, and Lauren Porteous.
