Taranaki mana whenua share oil field tales


Tangata whenua, environmentalists and other activists are heading for Wellington to voice their opposition to next week's Petroleum Conference.
Therre's a symposium backed by the Iwi Leaders Forum to explore the iwi response to continued oil and gas exploration, and also a community information day in Lower Hutt.
Organiser Jean Kahui says the day will be a chance to hear from a range of speakers, including representatives of Climate Justice Taranaki and mana whenua from the region who will share what they see at ground zero.
"So many people have no idea what the industry is up to so we have got people who have done a lot of research over the years and they are going to share the information they have," she says.
The Moving on from oil and gas in NZ information day at the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt runs from 10am to 5pm on Sunday
