Ministry and Ngai Tahu partner to grow future leaders

The Ministry of Youth Development and Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu have extended their successful partnership for a further 18 months.
Minister for Youth Peeni Henare says each partner will invest $100,000.
Some of the money will be used to establish a contestable fund for Maori organisations to deliver leadership, mentoring and volunteering deliver rangatahi and taiohi from Ngai Tahu and other iwi living within the Ngai Tahu takiwa.
The rest is to continue successful initiatives delivered through the initial partnership.
Last year 250 rangatahi took part in activities such as taiaha wananga, coding workshops, and outdoor pursuits.
Ngai Tahu kaiwhakahaere Lisa Tumahai says the South Island iwi is willing to invest in programmes that will help it create tribal leaders of the future.
