Research strengthens Waipareira negotiating arm
Investing in research and technology is paying off for Te Whanau o Waipareira as it works to improve the opportunities available to west Auckland whanau.
At the trust’s AGM this week, chair Ray Hall revealed revenue of $37 million and a $6 million surplus to reinvest in the community.
He highlighted its partnership with Housing New Zealand to build social housing, its purchase of a Henderson building for refitting into a technology hub, and the growing capacity of its research arm.
"Wai Research gives us the capability to go into our community and have a look at what the real needs are and once we get that research into our back office and across our board table we are able to look at it and go back to some of these funding agencies that invest in our community also so we are able to collaborate on inititives they want done and other initiatives the whanau in our community (say) need doing," Mr Hall says.
Waipareira’s Whanau Tahu software business is also going from strength to strength and picking up North American sales for its Navigator product.
