Boost for health careers
Tauira Maori studying a health or disability-related course can get help with their fees with this year's Hauora Maori Scholarships.
Online applications open today and close on March 28.
Associate Health Minister Jenny Salesa says encouraging Maori representation in the health workforce is important so the system responds effectively to the needs of Maori.
The scholarships can cover community health workers, dentistry, dietitians, health management and more, with 11 categories on offer.
The scholarships and three special awards range in value from $1000 to $10,000 each.
To be eligible, applicants must be a student enrolled and attending a New Zealand university, polytechnic, wananga or private training establishment, have whakapapa and/or cultural links with Te Ao Maori or Maori communities, and demonstrate a commitment to and/or competence in Maori health and wellbeing.
