Marama Royal has been elected to lead Ngati Whatua Orakei through its next phase of development, replacing former chair Phillip Davis.
Ms Royal has been a trustee since 2010 and deputy chair since 2015.
She has also held senior management roles at Victim Support and several government organisations.
Ms Royal says she intends to focus on the Orakei community and will be based at the marae.
Ngati Whatua Orakei now has an asset base of $1.09 billion and equity of $855 million.
Ngarimu Blair was elected deputy chair, and will continue as and shareholder appointee for the commercial arm Ngati Whatua Orakei Whai Rawa Limited.
