Manurewa MP Louisa Wall says the estimated $400,000 needed to change the name of the Ministry for Vulnerable Children will be money well spent.
Ms Wall says when National set up the ministry to replace the Child, Youth and Family Service it was told by the Children’s Commissioner and other submitters that labelling families in need was neither healthy nor productive.
"The other part to celebrate in dropping the (word) vulnerable is it will be Oranga Tamariki first and then the Ministry for Children so we have got prioritisation of te reo and what we all want is for all of our tamariki and mokopuna to be healthy and well," she says.
