Top stars for marae Christmas

Mangere’s Te Puea Marae will tomorrow celebrate Christmas at the Pa with entertainment, kapa haka and kai stalls.
Marae volunteer Jonboi Kukutai says it’s a change to give something back to the community which supports its work.
It’s also a chance to reconnect with many formerly homeless whanau the marae has helped to house over the past two years.
Some top flight entertainers have got behind the kaupapa, including Rob Ruha, Troy Kingi, Tama Waipara, kapa haka from Aorere College, Te Kura o Rakaumangamanga, the marae itself, as well as Cook Island and Tongan culture groups.
People can bring a picnic or get food from the kai stalls at the alcohol and smokefree event, which runs from 3 to 9 tomorrow.
