Davidson keen to advance Parihaka bill

Green MP Marama Davidson marked the 136th anniversary of the crown invasion of Parihaka by picking up a bill to establish November 5 as a national day of commemoration.
Te Ra o Parihaka Bill was in the name of former Maori Party MP Marama Fox but never made it out of the ballot.
Ms Davidson says it is essential Aotearoa honours its history, and children are told about the injustices of the past.
She says the passive resistance practised by Te Whiti o Rongomai, Tohu Kakahi and the people of Parihaka brought an end to the Taranaki land wars, and inspired the world.
