Studio shift gives Ikin edge

Maori Television’s board has rewarded Keith Ikin for stepping in as acting chief executive by giving him the top job.
Mr Ikin was taken on by the station six months ago as chief operating officer but the resignation of previous chief executive Paora Maxwell means he had to oversee the organisation’s move to its new East Tamaki headquarters.
Board chair Georgina te Heuheu says he brings twenty years of leadership, management and governance experience in organisations with a focus on Maori development.
Before the switch to television Mr Ikin had a career in education management, including stints at the Ministry of Education, Te Wananga o Aotearoa and Waiariki Polytechnic, before switching to an agribusiness focus as general manager of Maori development at Landcare Research.
The new position means we will step down as deputy chair of the Maniapoto Maori Trust Board.
