Alien Weaponry headed for Europe

Waipu band Alien Weaponry is set to take its reo Maori thrash metal to Europe.
The three high school students have signed a three-year management contract with Berlin-based music agency Das Maschine to represent them in Europe and other parts of the world.
New Zealand manager Niel de Jong says they looked for European representation afer being approached directly by one festival, and needed to put together other dates to make the trip feasible.
Oliver Kraemer from Das Maschine says Alien Weaponry has the potential to have a great impact on the worldwide music scene, because embracing their Maori whakapapa and making their culture part of their act makes them stand out.
The band is touring New Zealand to promote its third single, Ru Ana Te Whenua (The Earth Trembles).
It is a finalist for the Maioha Award to be announced at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards on Thursday.
