Overseas career wins Ellison Auckland transport job

Experience with multinational transport company Transdev in Europe and Australia has won Shane Ellison from Ngai Tahu and Te Ati Awa to top job in the country's largest transport company, Auckland Transport.
Auckland Transport chair Lester Levy says the selection panel was impressed with Mr Ellison's leadership capacity, innovative mindset, mix of operational experience coupled with a deep understanding of transformative change.
His most recent roles were with Transdev Australasia, including being the senior executive responsible for its ferry, bus and light rail operations in New South Wales and Queensland.
Before 2011 he worked for the firm in Paris on large transport infrastructure projects in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
The job comes with a $575,000 salary, which Dr Levy says was significantly less than equivalent positions in the private sector.
