Ngai Tahu nets own for fishing board

Four of Ngai Tahu Seafood’s six directors are now members of the tribe with the appointment of Defence Force lawyer Ben Bateman to the board.
Lieutenant Colonel Bateman from Ngati Waewae and Ngati Mamoe has been deployed on six operational tours of duty to the Middle East and was also the lead New Zealand Defence Force legal adviser for the New Zealand tenure on the United Nations Security Council.
The other new director is another lawyer, Jen Crawford, who led the Arts Centre of Christchurch Trust Board during the earthquake recovery period and is also a director of Regenerate Christchurch.
Ngai Tahu Seafood chair Craig Ellison says he is delighted to have directors of their calibre joining the governance team.
Iaean Cranwell was appointed an associate director under the Manawa Nui programme which provides opportunities for Ngai Tahu to gain experience and exposure to governance on boards of companies under the Ngai Tahu Holdings’ umbrella.
