Ardern-Davis team sparks Labour faithful

Donations have flowed into the party’s campaign fund and volunteers are showing renewed enthusiasm now Jacinda Ardern has taken over from Andrew Little to take Labour into the election.
Mr Henare, who has been tutoring Ms Ardern in te reo Maori for the past couple of years, says she’s receptive to Maori concerns.
The appointment of Te Taitokerau MP Kelvin Davis as her deputy also sends a signal to Maori voters as Labour adjusts its campaign strategy around the new team.
"She’s very clear there is going to be something different, something new, and those details will roll out in the next couple of days. Our job will be to make sure we can respond and I will continue pushing our Maori kaupapa and agenda with our new leadership and support not only Jacinda but also my tuakana Kelvin," Mr Henare says.
In a re-allocation of Labour spokesperson portfolios in the wake of the leadership change, Adrian Rurawhe was given responsibility for Treaty of Waitangi negotiations and Nanaia Mahuta becomes associate spokesperson on Maori development.
