Hikoi to clear minds for nursing conference

New Zealand Nurses Organisation members will this morning march the five kilometres from Te Puea Memorial Marae to the Mangere hotel where this year’s Indigenous Nurses Aotearoa Conference is being held.
Nurses kaiwhakahaere Keri Nuku says the 10am hikoi is a chance to reflect on the courage of their tupuna and to discuss hauora and health workforce issues.
She says it’s a show of collectivism and solidarity and a chance to korero, to waiata, to celebrate and to clear the mind.
Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett is due to address the conference at noon about pay equity issues for Maori and iwi providers.
