Time for new leadership to guide Ngapuhi through settlement

Te Kotahitanga o Nga Hapu, Ngapuhi co chair Pita Tipene says the spending by Tuhoronuku to settle Ngapuhi claims wouldn't be tolerated in the private sector and it shouldn't be tolerated by Maori.
Pita Tipene is willing to step aside from Kotahitanga leadership to advance its treaty claims and he's asking Tuhoronuku leaders to do the same.
Tuhoronuku is the Crown recognised negotiator for Ngapuhi claims and in nine years they've allegedly spent about $6million.
Pita Tipene says this type of spending and for no results shouldn't be tolerated.
"No body in the public sector or private sector or anywhere else would tolerate $6m worth of taxpayers money being spent having no resistance and even worse is that the people of Ngapuhi have a wedge that is being driven in between them," he says.
