Publicity stunt behind control of hapu office
An internal hapu stoush erupted over the weekend in Taranaki with Police being called in to resolve a stand-off.
Allegations of the theft of funds from Ngati Te Whiti Whenua Toopu Trust saw disgruntled hapu members attempt to seize control of Trust offices in New Plymouth.
But Ngati Te Whiti Whenua Toopu Trustee Peter Moeahu says it's nothing but a publicity stunt led by a single individual.
He says the Trust has been hit by allegations of theft and concerns by hapu members are valid says Peter Moeahu but he draws the line at stand offs and attempts at civil disruption as witnessed in the weekend.
