Jones missed oportunity for Labour

Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is welcoming the return of Shane Jones to politics.

The former Labour cabinet minister was confirmed this afternoon as New Zealand First candidate for Whangarei, after three years as the country’s ambassador for Pacific Island development.

Mr Henare says while he can be polarising, Mr Jones has a lot to offer the country.

"Labour probably missed an opportunity when my uncle ran for the leadership but missed out and we certainly know what he has been doing since. I wish him all the best and I love catcing up with him in and around the traps and he will certainly spice things up a bit." he says.
