SFO seizes documents in Pikia investigation

The Serious Fraud Office has carried out a search warrant at the offices of Te Arawa River Iwi Trust in Rotorua in connection with its investigation of its chair, Roger Pikia.
A spokesperson said it has no further comment on the ongoing investigation.
Trust chief executive Eugene Berryman-Kamp says the investigators provided the trust with a list of documents which it copied.
He says the investigation is into Mr Pikia, not the trust, which is continuing its work cleaning up the Waikato River in line with a treaty settlement.
Mr Pikia remains as the chair, despite calls from some Te Arawa elders for him to stand down until the SFO inquiry is complete.
Questions were raised last year about the investment of $775,000 in Ka Ora, a health food company chaired by Sir Wira Gardiner, where Mr Pikia is a director.
There was also concern about a $3.5 million deal by central North island iwi Tahu Whao, which Mr Pikia chairs, to take over a struggling forestry company in Tonga.
